Santa Rosans Share their Future Vision for Downtown at DSASP Community Engagement Events

What do you love about downtown? How can we make it easier to get around downtown without a car? What should downtown look like? At two recent Downtown Station Area Specific Plan community open house events, over 90 area residents and employees contemplated the answers to these questions and others, sharing their opinions and strategies, engaging in lively debates, and envisioning the future of downtown Santa Rosa. This feedback adds to the over 380 responses to the first online visioning survey available in April and input received at various neighborhood meetings and events.

At each open house event, participants learned more about the DSASP Update background and context and were invited to circulate to six interactive activity stations. Participants viewed relevant background information and completed short, map-based activities and surveys on downtown building heights, parking, the character of new development, and more.

If you couldn’t make it to the open house, view each station’s informational boards in the gallery below, and watch the Issues and Opportunities presentation here.

Don’t miss your opportunity to participate in the first visioning phase! If you have any additional comments related to DSASP Update issues and opportunities, leave the City a comment here.

In the next phase (Spring/Summer), there will be additional opportunities to participate in the process and help shape the future of downtown.  Keep this website bookmarked for announcements and events, and feel free to request a visit from City staff at your community event, business, or neighborhood meeting!
